Hotel Review: DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station – A New Hilton Property with Lounge Access Just Steps from Hachijō Exit

During my recent trip back to Japan, I visited Kyoto to meet and thank some of the people I regularly work with. For this stay, I chose the DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station. In Kyoto, I’ve previously stayed at Hilton Kyoto [review here], DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama [review here], and Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma [review here], but this was my first time at the DoubleTree Kyoto Station. Conveniently located near the Shinkansen platforms and the airport limousine bus stop, this new Hilton-brand hotel is ideal as a travel base. In this post, I’ll share my stay experience with plenty of photos — I hope it helps you…

Review: DoubleTree by Hilton Tokyo Ariake – Near Tokyo Big Sight and Odaiba

A trip back to Japan is also the perfect opportunity to collect more Hilton points. During this stay, I first checked into Hilton Tokyo Odaiba, and from there, took the Yurikamome line to the DoubleTree in Ariake. The next day, there seemed to be an event at Tokyo Big Sight, and many people were staying overnight beforehand. The hotel is also popular with international tourists. In this article, I’ll introduce DoubleTree by Hilton Tokyo Ariake, the newest Hilton property in Tokyo. I’ll cover how to get there, the guest rooms, breakfast, dinner at the hotel restaurant, Diamond member benefits, and more.If you’re looking for a reasonably priced Hilton stay in Tokyo,…

Review: DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama – Rooms, Location & Diamond Member Benefits

This year, I was able to visit Kyoto during my visit to Japan. Kyoto is always crowded in November, but this year, even in early November, the temperature hadn’t dropped much, and the autumn leaves were a little late, so it didn’t seem as crowded as I had expected. Before going to Kyoto, I stopped off at Expo Commemoration Park. I was able to fulfill my wish to see inside the Tower of the Sun, which has been open to the public since 2018. From Expo Commemoration Park, I took the monorail and then the Hankyu line to Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, where I could easily get to my accommodation: the…

Review: DoubleTree London ExCel

ExCeL is an exhibition hall near London City Airport, just like the Big Sight in Odaiba, Tokyo. We stayed at the DoubleTree London ExCeL, which is right next to this exhibition hall, for the first time. From the guest room we were assigned, we could see the quietly shining surface of the water right in front of us. The area around here is called Royal Docks, and was the centre of the shipping industry before the war.Having a walk along the dockside space in front of the hotel, I could see Canary Wharf to the west. Since London City Airport is nearby and there are height restrictions on buildings around…

Review: DoubleTree Lisbon – Fontana Park

After spending a few nights in the Algarve, we moved to our next destination, Lisbon, by train. The limited express train, named Alfa Pendular, goes swiftly through forested countryside on the way to Lisbon. For accommodation in Lisbon, I considered the newly opened Curio Emerald House, but decided to stay at Doubletree as it is close to the subway line which goes directly to the airport. I was surprised to hear that the building, which used to be a factory for iron products, has been reborn as a hotel. The use of black as the base colour for the interiors was innovative, and it didn’t feel like a factory at…
