Hotel Review: Hilton Garden Inn Hong Kong Mongkok – From Airport Access to Rooms and Breakfast

For my recent trip back to Asia, I flew with Cathay Pacific — my current favourite airline. On my way back to London, I made a short stopover in Hong Kong and stayed for one night. My last visit to Hong Kong was in 2024, when I stayed at the Conrad Hong Kong (hotel review here). This time, I finally booked the DoubleTree by Hilton Hong Kong Mongkok, a hotel I had been curious about for some time but never had the chance to try. From the airport, I took the Airport Express to Kowloon Station, which is the most convenient first step into the city. In this post, I’ll…

It had been 24 years since I first visited Hungary during a solo backpacking trip around Europe as a student. This time, I returned on a work trip—and found myself back in Budapest after all these years. The first hotel I stayed at was the Hilton Garden Inn Budapest City Centre, a relatively new property that opened in 2019. It’s located on the Pest side of the city centre, just east of the Danube River. If you’re looking for a Hilton-branded hotel in Budapest, this is definitely one worth considering. Review: Hilton Garden Inn Vilnius City Centre

Recently, I’ve been on business trips to continental Europe. This time, my destination is Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. From London, the full-service carrier LOT Polish Airlines flies direct from London City Airport (but please note that it doesn’t operate daily). If you want to stick to Oneworld, you’ll need to transfer – in which case, I’d recommend via Helsinki with Finnair. Low-cost airlines from Stansted, Luton and other airports also operate direct flights. Review: Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma

I wasn’t able to visit Kyoto during my visit to Japan last year, but I really wanted to go this year, and I was able to make a reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, which opened in 2022. The hotel faces Karasuma Dori, which runs straight from Kyoto Station, so I was able to find it without getting lost. If you’re using the subway, it’s right between Shijo Station and Gojo Station, so if you’re coming from Kyoto Station, it’s probably a shorter journey from Gojo Station. The ground floor has a high ceiling, giving it an open feel. The open-plan lobby and restaurant is a spacious…
