Review: Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma
I wasn’t able to visit Kyoto during my visit to Japan last year, but I really wanted to go this year, and I was able to make a reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, which opened in 2022.
The hotel faces Karasuma Dori, which runs straight from Kyoto Station, so I was able to find it without getting lost. If you’re using the subway, it’s right between Shijo Station and Gojo Station, so if you’re coming from Kyoto Station, it’s probably a shorter journey from Gojo Station.
The ground floor has a high ceiling, giving it an open feel. The open-plan lobby and restaurant is a spacious area that can be used for coffee and rest comes into view, and the bright wood-grained interior looks very cozy. Since I had some time until check-in, I decided to leave my luggage and go for a walk around the area.

The hotel is just a short walk from Shijo-dori, making it convenient to go to the city center. It’s also close to the subway and Hankyu stations, so it’s perfect for visiting famous places in Kyoto.

I was upgraded to a deluxe room, so there was enough space even for our large suitcases, and the bathroom had a bathtub, so I was able to relax.

The breakfast, which I was looking forward to, had a large selection of Japanese dishes, and I was able to fully enjoy Kyoto for the first time in a while.

Useful information
Since it is a Hilton Garden Inn, there is no lounge, but there is also a shop inside the hotel, so it seems convenient to buy some drinks. Although I didn’t use it, there seems to be a laundry room in the basement.
