Review: The Caledonian Edinburgh (2023)

I decided to spend the weekend visiting a friend living in Edinburgh and, when I searched for a last-minute hotel room, I was lucky enough to be able to reserve a room at the Waldorf Astoria (Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, the Caledonian was rebranded to The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton in 2024).

In Scotland the number of tourists greatly increases in the summer, so walking along Princes Street from the station to the hotel was already very crowded.

From the window of our upgraded guest room, we could see the impressive Edinburgh Castle up close. Princes Street Gardens lies at the foot of Castle Rock, whose trees have grown splendidly like a dense forest when viewed from the hotel room, as if protecting the castle. The scenery after the sun goes down is also fantastic; it was fun to see the expression of the castle changing throughout the day.

In addition to the view, the room layout is also very luxurious: our suite had a separate living room with sofa and table. The calm colours of the interior perfectly matched the furnishings, and I was able to immerse myself in a very elegant mood.

Tourism in Edinburgh is at its peak during the International and Fringe festivals in August. I am sure the hotel will be very busy during the festival season!
