Review: Hilton Nagoya

After leaving Kyoto, our next destination was Nagoya. It only takes 40 minutes on the Shinkansen. Japan has many cities with millions of people, and they are all well connected by high-speed railways. Furthermore, the frequency of Shinkansen departures is unbelievable. I thought it was normal when I lived in Japan, but coming from England, it seems completely surprising.

Access

I took a taxi from Nagoya Station because I had a lot of baggage, but if you’re travelling light, you can easily get there on foot.

Check-in and tea time

After checking in at the hotel and waiting for a friend to arrive, I looked at the Christmas diorama in the lobby and felt like Christmas was just around the corner. When he arrived, we decided to stay in the hotel’s lobby cafe and ordered a stollen in the Christmas spirit. It’s been a long time since we last met, and time passed quickly just exchanging our news and updates!

Room

The interior of the room is similar to the Hilton Tokyo, with sliding screens on the inside of the windows, and the lighting and furniture are reminiscent of the Executive Room at the Hilton Tokyo Bay.

Executive lounge and spa

The lounge and spa were both very comfortable. This was my first time at Hilton Nagoya, and I really enjoyed it.

Breakfast

The open-ceiling breakfast area is a great space with the morning sunlight streaming in. It’s a refreshing atmosphere that you would never expect in London at this time of year. The restaurant was already decorated for Christmas. As you’d expect in Nagoya, they also had miso katsu. Don’t forget the miso.
