Cannot miss exlusive items available only in ‘Toraya Paris’｜パリ店限定品も見逃せない「とらやパリ店」

Whenever I come to Paris, I always want to visit Toraya. When friends come from Japan, I ask if they can bring namagashi, (fresh Japanese sweets), but if I go to Paris, I can eat freshly made sweets similar to those available in Japan. It is such a treat!
Inside the store is the Salon de Te, where you can not only have tea and sweets, but also lunch. We already had lunch at Cafe Mademoiselle so this time I decided to order shaved ice and anmitsu.
Paris is a city of tradition and prestige, things which it has in common with Kyoto, where Toraya began. Parisian atmosphere and the elegance of Toraya confectionery make for a highly complementary combination!
パリに来ると時間が許す限り必ず訪れるのがとらや。日本から友達がやってくる時には無理を言って生菓子を調達してもらうのですが、パリに行けば、日本で手に入るものと同様の作り立てのお菓子が食べられます。それのなんと贅沢なことか、有り難さが身に沁みます。
店内には、サロン・ド・テと呼ばれる喫茶室があり、お茶とお菓子だけでなく、昼食も食べられるようになっています。お昼ご飯は既にカフェ・マドモアゼルで済ませてきたので、その日は、かき氷とあんみつを注文することにしました。
パリの真ん中で、純日本的な和菓子をいただくなんて、考えると多少の違和感がありそうなのに、不思議なほどしっくりくるところが実に面白いなあと思います。
伝統と格式を重んじるパリだからこそ、京都発祥のとらやが一貫して受け継いできた、その世界観を体現できているのだと言えそうです。
