Lunch in Le Progrès Marais
During my stay in Paris, the first place I wanted to visit was Rue Vieille du Temple, north of the Marais. As usual, you can go by subway from the Hilton, but this time I decided to take the bus. Paper tickets (carnets) were phased out in Paris transport systems last year and replaced with Navigo cards.
Because of this, I realised that using Navigo cards and Google Maps would make travelling by bus much easier.

After visiting all the shops in the area, I wanted to take a break, and I ended up going to a brasserie that made such a good impression, I decided to have a meal as well, after initially only intending to have a drink. The menu was only in French, but the waiter explained it in English, and if I still didn’t understand something, I did a Google search. After some hesitation, I chose choucroute, a local dish from the Alsace region.

It had more flavour than the sauerkraut I sometimes ate while studying in Germany, and was the perfect dish for a cold winter. As a side note, I travelled to Alsace several times from Germany, and the area from there to the Black Forest in Germany and Basel in Switzerland is one of my favourite regions in Europe. The quiche I ordered with it was also exquisite.

At this time of year, all the stores were crowded as it was a sale period. I was a little tired from walking, not only from the crowds but also from the cold, but thanks to the hot food I was able to recover.
