Review: Hilton Paris Opera (2022)

We’ve been visiting Paris twice a year recently, and the Hilton Paris Opera has become like a home away from home. As soon as you step inside the building from the bustling surroundings of Saint-Lazare Station, you will be instantly enveloped by a calm air. The hotel has a long history, but has had a sensitive refurbishment, the centrepiece of which is the radiant Grand Salon. Even when arriving late at night, relaxing on the deep, spacious sofas of the Grand Salon with a glass of your favourite beverage will dissolve any tiredness from a long trip. As expected in the heart of a historic city, the guest rooms are…

Review: Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona

Review: Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona

There are two Hilton hotels in Barcelona, but this time we decided to stay at the Hilton Diagonal Mar, which is a little farther from the city centre, but the sea breeze is comfortable. If you take the subway, you can reach Plaça de Catalunya in about 25 minutes.  When the sunshine gets stronger in the summer, this is a great place to stay to cool down by the sea. It’s only about a 10-minute walk to the nearby sandy beach.  In late April, when we stayed, it was still too early to swim in the sea, so we decided to enjoy the sun by the outdoor pool attached to…

After staying in Larnaca in the south of Cyprus for two nights, we moved on to the capital city of Nicosia to stay at the Hilton there. When entering the building, the first thing you’ll notice is the spacious lobby in a large atrium. The reception furniture, furnishings, lighting fixtures, and the texture of the floor and pillars, were all in harmony, and I was instantly captivated by the gorgeous yet calm atmosphere. After the 1-hour drive from Larnaca, I immediately went to the lounge to soothe my thirsty throat. After a short break, we then headed to the hotel’s most enjoyable Hiltonia Spa. The spa is equipped with an…

Review: Hilton Athens

Review: Hilton Athens

Hilton Athens closed in January this year for extensive renovations, but will reopen as a Conrad hotel in 2025. It was our favourite place to stay when visiting Athens on trips to Greece.   The Parthenon that towers over the Acropolis hill seen from the guest rooms is so beautiful, especially at twilight. Watching the sunset over the city of Athens every time I stayed here was such a joy.  Even after the sun has completely set, the Parthenon seen from the Galaxy Bar on the top floor of the hotel takes on a different atmosphere from the day, and the soft glow radiates a captivating charm that makes you want…
