Cycling around Lake Como and Como city

When I checked in, I noticed that there was a Hilton bicycle parked next to the entrance, and when I asked about it, I was told that it was available for rental to guests, so I decided to rent one. I received a map from the hotel concierge showing the cycle paths along the shores of Lake Como, so after a quick look, I decided on my general direction, and set off right away. Our destination was the cable car station we spotted from our room the night before.

On this day, the weather in Como was clear and sunny, and I felt warm even with just a little movement.

It was a sunny day, hard to believe for the beginning of February, and many people were walking along the lake. After cycling for a while, I came across a scene that made me think I was watching a live-action version of Porco Rosso. A seaplane, perhaps piloted by Porco Rosso himself, was brought to Lake Como and was about to take off.

The aircraft left the lake with a powerful engine sound and headed north; we watched until it was out of sight, before returning to our bicycles and setting out for the cable car station again.

The cable car station was crowded with many passengers heading towards Mount Brunate. On the way, the cable car passed a vehicle going down in the opposite direction, and continued straight up all 750 meters above sea level. From the area around the mountaintop station, you can clearly see not only Lake Como, but also the Alps that tower behind it, and the scenery was picturesque.

The next morning, after breakfast, we decided to take a walk through the gardens of Villa Olmo, which is right in front of the hotel. It was early, so the view of the morning sun gently reflecting on the misty surface of the lake was magical, and a sense of tranquility enveloped the mansion.

There are many ways to enjoy your free time in Como, by strolling through the town adjacent to the lake, following the trajectory of circling seaplanes, or admiring the ever-changing scenery of Lake Como throughout the day. With so many fun things to see and do, this is the appeal of staying in Como.

Useful information

Unfortunately, the Hilton Lake Como does not have a lounge, but Diamond members can rent bicycles for free. Spa usage fees will be discounted to almost half price (39 euros will be reduced to 20 euros).
