Review: Hilton Milan (2023)
When I was a student, I toured various cities in Italy and boarded a train bound for Germany at Milan Central Station. Although I only saw the station during the short time I had to change trains, it remained my impression of Milan for the next 20 years.
I chose Milan for a weekend trip this time because I wanted to walk around the city in all its glory before Christmas, and I also wanted to take another look at the architecture of the train station.

There are several Hilton hotels in the Milan metropolitan area, but we decided to stay at the Hilton Milan because it was near the station and convenient for getting around. It took about 25 minutes by bus from Milan Linate Airport to the central station, and then a few minutes’ walk to the hotel.
Room
Although we arrived in the morning, we were immediately shown to our room. The bedroom was spacious and had a stylish wooden minibar. There was also a bathtub in the bathroom, and I guess Japanese people think it’s better to have a bathtub when travelling in cold weather.
Executive lounge
Before heading into town, I quenched my thirst at the lounge. Before noon, there was no one around and I was able to relax, but when I returned in time for cocktail hour, it was completely crowded. The focus was on small side dishes that go well with alcohol, so it might be a good idea to have appetizers in the lounge and main dishes at a restaurant.
This time, although I chose this Hilton because of its location, I generally find it more relaxing to stay in a hotel with a lounge. Since becoming a Diamond member, I’ve been looking forward to carefully considering where to stay while thinking more about how to enjoy the hotel and its facilities.
Useful information
If there is an option to fly to Milan, Linate Airport is close and convenient. From London, British Airways also flies from City Airport. (As a side note, the British Airways lounge at Linate Airport was very Italian, with a great selection of food and drinks.)
