Review: Hilton Molino Stucky Venice

In Venice, we stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. As you travel along the Giudecca Canal on the vaporetto, you’ll notice a large building on Giudecca Island that catches your eye: it’s a Hilton hotel that was renovated from a former flour mill. The inside of the hotel is so vast and labyrinthine that it is no exaggeration to say it’s easy to get lost.

Access

Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is located on Giudecca Island, far from the main island of Venice, so you will need to take a vaporetto. Please refer to the following for directions to the hotel.

There are two ways to get to the hotel.

1. From Venice Santa Lucia Train Station or Bus Terminal (Piazzale Roma)
2. From Venice Marco Polo Airport

Please refer to the useful information below on how to use Hilton’s shuttle vaporetto service.

1. From Venice Santa Lucia Train Station or Bus Terminal (Piazzale Roma)

Most people probably get into Venice by train at Santa Lucia Station, or take a bus from the airport to the bus terminal at Piazzale Roma.
The station and bus terminal are adjacent to each other, and you can move between them by crossing the Costituzione Bridge, but there are vaporetto stops at each, so you don’t need to carry heavy luggage.
Take vaporetto number 2 or 4.1, operated by ACTV, the Venice city public transport company, and get off at Palanca. From here, walk a little west. You will cross two bridges on the way, but it’s only about 500 meters, so it’s very easy.

2. From Venice Marco Polo Airport

You can also travel directly to the hotel from the airport by vaporetto. In this case, use the blue line of the water bus operated by Alilaguna, not the city-run ACTV. They will drop you off at the pier (Giudecca Stucky) right in front of the hotel. It will take a little longer (about 1 hour and 40 minutes), but if you have a lot of luggage, it may be easier as there will be fewer transfers. The view of the sea and islands from the window will also be a good memory.

Room

In this stay, we were three adults as travelling with a friend. I could have rented two separate rooms, but I decided to take the plunge and choose a suite with a living room. It was a very relaxing room with a spacious floor plan and nice furniture. The chandelier-like lighting appears to be made of Murano glass. Unfortunately, the view from the window was nothing to write home about, but there was a lovely cake on display, perhaps as a token of appreciation for the Diamond members.

The bathroom was very spacious, with a separate shower, bathtub and toilet. I was surprised to see that there were kitchen facilities for long-term guests.

Recently, Hilton announced that they will be completing renovations of the suites in May 2024. We stayed there in 2023, so this information can be used as a reference for the pre-renovation period.

Observation bar and restaurant

Before dinner, I decided to go to the observation bar on the hotel rooftop. From here, you can see the night view of the main island of Venice. I think there is no place higher than here to enjoy a drink in Venice.

Gratitude for being able to travel again this year, we toasted with Presecco. The night breeze felt a little humid, probably because here is by the sea. At night, the canal regained its tranquility, and the lights of the city on the opposite bank were reflected on the water’s surface, creating a very atmospheric scene.

After enjoying the aperitif, it was time for dinner. There were several restaurants in the hotel, but we went to the Rialto restaurant, which was open until late at night. To be honest, I thought it was a little pricey for the amount of food, but we were able to have snacks in the lounge during cocktail hour, so in the end, I think it was good that we didn’t overeat.

Executive Lounge

The lounge was right next to the Rialto, where we had dinner, and close to the entrance, making it a convenient location. I returned to the hotel several times in between sightseeing, and it was very convenient to stop by before going to my room or for a quick moment before going out. We were able to relax at the hotel thanks to the lounge.

Breakfast

We had better to avoid busy times as I realised that there were quite a few guests are in the venue when we were having breakfast. Since it is a large hotel, the breakfast area is very spacious but you might feel that it was not easy to move around.

A wide variety of prosciutto, salami, and cheeses were prepared, this made it difficult to choose. There are also plenty of cakes and sweets, so if you have time and a spare space, try a few different types.

Useful information

Shuttle Service by Hilton

The hotel operates a vaporetto that connects Piazza San Marco and Zattere to the pier in front of the hotel. As stated on the hotel’s website, it costs 15 euros per stay, and you should contact the hotel directly for the timetable.
