Review: London Hilton on Park Lane

After a short trip to Venice, we returned to London. The accommodation I recommended to a friend was the London Hilton on Park Lane. There are now many Hilton hotels in London, but this was the first Hilton hotel in the UK, opened in 1963. (By the way, the Hilton opened in Tokyo in 1963.) To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the hotel’s opening, renovations were said to be underway for the autumn of 2023, although the lobby had already undergone its transformation when we visited.

Access

The easiest way is to take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow Airport, get off at Hyde Park Corner station, and walk from there. However, the Piccadilly line is very crowded during rush hour. You might be feeling quite tired because of the old the carriages (new carriages are scheduled to be introduced in 2025). If you have a lot of luggage, it is easier to take the Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line to Paddington station and then take a taxi from there.

Room

We were delayed from Heathrow Airport and arrived at the hotel near midnight, but they welcomed us warmly and even treated us to Prosecco.

The room was also upgraded several ranks to a suite, comprising a dressing room between the living room and the bedroom, a spacious washroom, and a balcony overlooking Hyde Park.

Executive lounge

The interior of the lounge was also renovated, making it a stylish and comfortable space. There was a wide variety of drinks and snacks available during the cocktail hour, and before we knew it, we had been chatting for hours. At the end, we toasted with whisky and vowed to meet again in London.
