Hotel Review: Hilton Vienna Park – Great Location, Renovated Rooms, Lounge & Breakfast Guide

I often find myself missing Vienna every autumn. The last time I visited was in 2010, and after 14 years, I finally had the opportunity to return—this time in the beautiful autumn season I had always hoped to experience, thanks to a work trip.

During this visit, I stayed at two of Vienna’s most iconic Hilton hotels. In this article, I’ll share a detailed review of my stay at the popular Hilton Vienna Park, including the guest room, Executive Lounge, and breakfast. You can also read my separate review of Hilton Vienna Plaza for comparison.

Access|Recommended routes from the airport to the hotel

It took about 2 hours to get to Vienna Airport from London. From here, it is convenient to take the direct train to Wien Mitte, the City Airport Train (CAT), or the slightly longer suburban train (S-Bahn No. 7).

Both trains run every 30 minutes, so you can decide when you arrive at the airport station. Please check the ticket machine before you buy because you will need completely different tickets.  The hotel is right in front of Mitte Station.

Room|Newly renovated and more comfortable than ever

It’s only been a few years since the entire hotel interior was renovated, so my first impression was that it felt new everywhere. The room was clean and the bathroom was very clean and comfortable.

The furnishings, lighting, carpets, paintings, and everything in the room were in harmony, making it a very comfortable room. I could have taken a break here, but when I checked in, I heard that the cocktail hour in the lounge was about to start, so I went there since I was there.

Executive Lounge|Impressively spacious with a wide variety of offerings

As soon as I entered the hotel, I realised that the Hilton Vienna Park is a fairly large hotel. It has 15 floors and 663 rooms.

For comparison, the London Hilton on Park Lane is 28 floors, which is a fairly tall hotel in Europe, but this one has 453 rooms.

Perhaps it’s because of the size of the hotel, but the lounge was surprisingly spacious.

There was a separate room that was like a library or study, and there was also a spacious terrace outside.

During cocktail time, there were a variety of drinks available, including alcohol, tea, and coffee, and the food was more like a full meal than just snacks, and the quantity and quality were enough to satisfy you without having to go out.

It’s a very useful lounge, whether you just drop in for a cup of tea or you want to work and concentrate.

Breakfast|Featuring Austrian specialties like Topfen and classic Viennese dishes

Like the lounge, the breakfast area is very spacious, and outdoor seating is available in good seasons.

There were always people coming and going, so it seemed a little busy, but many employees were always cleaning up and tidying up, so it didn’t look messy.

Try looking for Topfenparachinken, an Austrian specialty.

The crepe dough and the Austrian cheese “Topfen” stuffed inside make it a perfect breakfast.

Useful information|Tips for saving on public transport in Vienna

When travelling within Vienna, you will likely have many opportunities to use the subway, trams, buses, and sometimes suburban trains (S-Bahn). It’s a hassle to buy a single ticket multiple times, so I think it’s more convenient and economical to buy a 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, or 7-day ticket. This will be valid for all of the above-mentioned transportation.

Also, if you are taking the S7 (S-Bahn number 7) or Railjet that connects to the airport, this ticket is valid within Vienna, so you only need to buy an additional ticket for outside the city. If you show your ticket at the station counter, they will sell you any additional tickets you need to complete your journey. For more information, please see here.
