TGV Geneva to Paris by 1st class｜フランス高速鉄道 ジュネーブからパリ一等席の旅

After spending two nights in Geneva, we took the French high-speed train to Paris, the final destination of this trip. Even though it’s a high-speed train, it doesn’t seem to be able to reach very high speeds for the first hour or so as it runs through the mountains. Instead, the scenery from the train window is filled with mountain streams, lakes, and steep cliffs, so we didn’t get tired of looking at them.

After passing through the mountainous area and waiting for the train to stop shaking, I went to the dining car and got some lunch. The meal offer on the TGV is supervised by Michel Roth, as it seems to be on Air France as well; I chose the salmon with candied lemon and Camargue rice. While admiring the countryside, the train arrived at Gare de Lyon in Paris. It was a comfortable international train journey of about 3 hours.

ジュネーブで２泊した後は、フランス高速鉄道に乗って今回の旅の最終目的地パリへ向かいました。高速鉄道とはいえ、始めの１時間程は山間（やまあい）を縫って走るため、速度はあまり出せないようです。その代わり、車窓からの景色は渓流や湖、急峻な崖などが代わる代わる現れるので見ていて飽きません。

山間部を抜け、列車の揺れがおさまったところを見計らい、食堂車へ行ってお昼ご飯を調達してきました。ミシェル・ロット氏の監修による食事は、エールフランスでも提供されているようですが、ＴＧＶでは鮭ご飯（カマルグ産のお米）を選択してみました。

田園風景をぼんやり眺めていると列車はパリ・リヨン駅に到着。３時間程の快適な国際列車の旅でした。

Some countries in Europe have systems in place that allow you to get discounts on railway fares by becoming a member. In Germany it’s the BahnCard, in the UK it’s the Railcard. In France they offer Carte Avantage. You can apply online, so please give it a try. There are various types of memberships, such as those for children and adults, and the discount conditions seem to vary depending on them. Once you have decided on your travel plans, you can save a lot of money by booking early and even getting a first class seat.
