Palace and Gardens of Versailles｜ベルサイユ宮殿と庭園

You can enter the grounds of the Palace of Versailles from the gate behind the Waldorf Astoria Versailles Trianon Palace, but we started with a tour of the palace, then walked around the garden before returning to this gate.
After finishing the tour of the palace and going around the front garden, it was already noon. We decided to have lunch at La Flottille, a restaurant on the banks of the Grand Canal. At this time of year, it’s really nice to sit outside on a sunny day, but here was a particularly special corner of the garden. The sparkling light reflected on the water of the Grand Canal, the sunlight filtering through the trees on the terrace, and the smiling faces of people enjoying the summer weather, all make you feel like you’ve slipped into a Renoir painting.
After the meal, we took a leisurely tour of the Trianon Palace, walked along the promenade with the locals, before leaving the gardens and returning to the hotel. We spent a whole day walking around, amazed at the overwhelming scale of the palace and its grounds. Yet I was able to appreciate the gorgeous interiors and furnishings of the palace, the interesting perspectives and vistas of the garden, and the beauty of the sculptures to my heart’s content.
ベルサイユ宮殿の敷地には、ウォルドーフ・アストリア・ベルサイユ・トリアノン・パレスの裏手にある門から入ることもできるのですが、まずは宮殿の見学から始めて、庭園を散策しながらこちらの門に戻ってくるのが効率良く回れるのでお勧めです。
宮殿の見学を終えて正面の庭園を一周すると、既にお昼時です。昼食は大運河のほとりにあるレストラン、ラ・フロティーユでいただくことにしました。今の時期、晴れた日は屋外の席に座るのが本当に気持ち良いのですが、特にここは庭園の一角という特等席です。大運河の水面に反射するキラキラした光、木漏れ日の差し込むテラス、夏の陽気を楽しむ人々の笑顔、まるでルノアールの絵画に紛れ込んだような気分になります。
食事の後は、トリアノン宮殿をゆっくり見学、地元の人々に混じって散歩道を歩きながら庭園を後にし、ホテルに戻りました。一日かけて本当によく歩いたので、圧倒的な広さにはただただ感嘆するばかりですが、宮殿の豪華な内装や調度品、庭園の仕掛けや造形的な美しさ等、心ゆくまで鑑賞できました。
