Review: DoubleTree Brighton Metropole

We made a spontaneous decision to go to Brighton for the first time in a while and, of course, we chose to stay at the Hilton Brighton Metropole!

This was our second time to stay at the DoubleTree in Brighton and, as we were told at check-in, the recently refurbished rooms are very different from the previous style. I’m grateful to the front desk staff for guiding us to one of their newest rooms.

I always feel that hotels in the UK have really innovative interior design. Of course, there are many wonderful hotels across Europe, but what I feel sets UK design apart is the way in which classic elements of the room, like furniture, lighting, carpets and wallpaper, are recombined or reinterpreted to feel fashionable and new. The design is playful and not stiff, and definitely cosy. And since there is a sense of unity in the design as a whole, there are no unusual colours or objects which seem out of place or added later.

My favourite part of this hotel is the breakfast venue. The gentle morning light reflected off the sea through the large windows creates a dazzling backdrop to the first meal of the day. Whenever you’re in Brighton, I’d definitely recommend staying at this beautiful hotel by the sea.
